For Schools and Community

Community Impact Programming ensures that adults who work with youth are aware of how children and teens grieve and offers the skills and knowledge to best support them. Programming is provided by professional support staff and can be customized for a variety of audiences including school personnel, medical and social services providers, faith-based practitioners and community organizers.

Professional Workshops & Training

Tu Nidito offers workshops and trainings for schools and community agencies. The workshops provide an opportunity for those that work closely with the youth in our community to further their understanding of what grieving individuals are experiencing and how to better support them through the grief process. Workshops are available in English and Spanish, either on-site or via video conferencing. Certificates of attendance can be provided if requested.

School Grief & Loss Groups

For schools, interested in offering a grief & loss group to their students, Tu Nidito can provide a comprehensive training to school staff in addition to a structured 8 Week Grief Group Curriculum. School staff will be trained on the Tu Nidito model and how to implement best practices when facilitating a grief support group at their school. The curriculum includes discussion topics and activities that focus on identifying and expressing emotions, developing coping strategies while at the same time, decreasing the feeling of isolation and building connections with other students.

Thank you for your continued support. Your organization has been a blessing to our school.
- School Principal
I wanted to let you know what a saving grace you and Tu Nidito continue to be. Thank you for all that you and the organization do to support our grieving families. I will be re-sharing the resources that you provided during the training. It is SO nice to have somewhere to send parents and even staff during these seemingly impossible times.

The Tu Nidito grief training provided relevant and very useful information for my role as a CASA. Understanding how children grieve and how to support a child who is grieving is so valuable in my everyday work. The opportunity to learn about and to practice “Reflective Listening” provided a tool that is absolutely necessary when interacting with abused and neglected children. Finally, the trainer herself was so knowledgeable about grief and the materials she provided were well written with clear examples. It was definitely an enriching training, with time well spent.

The University of Arizona College of Education is so grateful for the crucial services Tu Nidito offers to our community. Tu Nidito provides all of our Elementary and Early Childhood future educators with grief support training for educators. Our future teachers are now able to understand grief from the perspective of an educator, and they feel well-prepared to support children who are grieving. What a gift to the Tucson community!

We include the Tu Nidito grief education workshop in Teach Arizona every year. It is a priority for us because we see how many schoolchildren are dealing with grief and loss. The workshop gives our future middle and high school teachers an understanding of how children conceptualize and experience grief, the variety of ways they exhibit their grief, and age-appropriate ways for teachers to talk to students about grief. We particularly appreciate that our teachers have the opportunity during the workshop to practice and discuss grief support strategies. They consistently rate the workshop as one of the most impactful and beneficial experiences in our program.
