Bereavement support
When someone dies, grief can be overwhelming and isolating. But it doesn’t have to be. With support groups from Tu Nidito, children, teens, young adults and families find community, belonging, understanding and comfort while navigating a death—all on their own terms.

Partnerships to support community youth
In addition to services at our location, Tu Nidito partners with other community agencies to meet those in need where they are. This includes support groups for community youth (typically ages 16-24) who are experiencing unresolved and unaddressed grief from a death, but who have difficulty accessing available resources and support.

Bereavement Group Support FAQs
Visit our Get Started page to begin the enrollment process.
A family can call and start the process as soon as they feel ready. Each family is unique and each family member grieves differently. We will provide information about our program and offer our insights, but each family is the “expert” of their own grief. We respect their decision to start when the time is right.
Tu Nidito works hard to avoid having a waiting list for services. In fact, we serve nearly 2,000 people per year.
Support groups are held Monday through Thursday of each week. Families are required to complete an orientation and paperwork prior to attending their assigned group. Groups meet twice monthly at Tu Nidito’s office—3922 N. Mountain Ave Tucson, AZ 85719.
Tu Nidito is proud to offer all of its grief and serious medical condition support programs free of charge.
For bereaved young adults ages 18 to 29, please call Tu Nidito or complete the online form and a staff member will assist you with enrollment. For grieving adults who are not caregivers to a child(ren), please call Tu Nidito or contact us here for resources specific to your situation.
Tu Nidito outcome statistics and best practices indicate that families benefit the most when they stay in our support group services for 12 to 18 months, but each family is different and they are the experts of their grief journey. When families are ready to close their time with the group they are equipped with a toolbox to continue their grief journey at home.

Yes, group rules are a way for our participants to feel comfortable and safe. The rules are a bit different for each age group, but here are some of our important ones:
- The “I Pass” Rule: You can always say “I Pass” if you are called on to share and you do not want to or are not ready.
- Confidentiality: Anything you or anyone else says in group will remain private, unless there is concern of harm to yourself or others.
- Sharing Stick Rule, or “Taking Turns” Rule: Everyone will have an opportunity to share, uninterrupted.
- Comparing Losses Rule: Everyone’s loss and experience with grief is different, therefore participants will not compare their grief or loss with someone else’s.
- Advice Rule: We ask that each participant refrain from giving advice to their fellow group members, unless that person explicitly asks for advice.
