What happens after I fill in a referral form?2025-01-29T01:49:07+00:00

For child/family support group only, you will be contacted by a Tu Nidito staff member and you will be asked to make an appointment for an in-person orientation and to complete some paperwork. During your orientation, you and your family will get a tour of Tu Nidito and learn more about what to expect from your experience. Once your paperwork is complete you will be placed into a support group night depending on your availability and reason for coming to Tu Nidito.

Families who have a child with a serious medical condition will be contacted by a Support Specialist within 24 hours of referral. The Support Specialist can contact you virtually or come to your home, hospital or another location outside of Tu Nidito to meet you, explain services and determine your family’s needs.

For bereaved young adults ages 18 to 29, please call Tu Nidito or complete the online form and a staff member will assist you with enrollment.

How much do grief support services cost?2025-01-29T01:49:20+00:00

All Tu Nidito grief support services are offered at no cost.

How long do families participate in services?2025-01-29T01:51:36+00:00

Tu Nidito outcome statistics and best practices indicate that families benefit the most when they stay in our support group services for 12 to 18 months, but each family is different and they are the experts of their grief journey. When families are ready to close their time with the group they are equipped with a toolbox to continue their grief journey at home.

For families with a child with a serious medical condition, Tu Nidito services last for as long as the family needs support and can range from nine months to multiple years.

How long after a death does a family need to wait before calling?2025-01-29T01:51:57+00:00

A family can call and start the process as soon as they feel ready. Each family is unique and each family member grieves differently. We will provide information about our program and offer our insights, but each family is the “expert” of their own grief. We respect their decision to start when the time is right.

What does Tu Nidito consider a serious medical condition?2025-01-29T01:54:10+00:00

Tu Nidito defines a serious medical condition as a progressive, degenerative or malignant medical condition that indicates a strong possibility of the child or primary caregiver’s life being endangered or significantly impacted. Due to Tu Nidito’s need for some parameter of service, chronic, long-term diagnoses/conditions are considered on a case-by-case basis.

How often can I expect to receive a visit from a Support Specialist if I have a child with a serious medical condition?2025-01-15T05:41:48+00:00

Each family is different depending on their needs. Visits can range from several times per week to weekly or monthly.

When do support groups meet?2025-01-29T01:56:08+00:00

Support groups are held Monday through Thursday of each week. Families are required to complete an orientation and paperwork prior to attending their assigned group. Groups meet twice monthly at Tu Nidito.
