HAPPENINGS AT THE NEST

At Tu Nidito this month, families will each take one clay pot. Every member of the family will be invited to hold it together just knee height. After counting to 3, they will let it drop to the ground. 

After choosing pieces of the broken pot together, they will draw pictures or describe their grief, loss, or pain on the inward part of the pot. 

On the outward facing part of the pot, families will draw pictures or write about who or what gives them support or helps them along their grief journey. 

In order to glue the pot back together, families will need to work along side each other—holding the correct pieces in place while another glues the pieces together. 

This activity shows us that even when the death of someone we love changes our world, we can put our lives back together and even though it’s not the same as before, we can still find beauty in the grieving process. How have you found beauty in your own grief journey?
