Dear Friends of the Nest,
|
September is a busy month at “Our Little Nest.” Next Friday, September 26th, Our Dueling Pianos event is coming to The Grand Tucson, and there are only 25 seats left! The grief work we do can be heavy to hold, so this opportunity to gather together for an evening of food, music, and dancing means so much to our community. You can show up for grieving children, teens, young adults, caregivers, and families in Southern Arizona, and have an evening to remember while doing so by purchasing your tickets today.
Some of the summer heat has subsided, and we’ve been enjoying these cooler mornings—which is a clear sign that 2025 is wrapping up. As we begin to look ahead to next year, we are looking for five exceptional moms to honor at our next Remarkable Celebration in 2026. We celebrate Mothers because they are the heart of our community. Remarkable Moms are mentors, advocates, and role models, embodying Tu Nidito’s mission, and we hope you’ll join us in our search by nominating a Remarkable Mom in your life.
Lastly, there are several fun ways to support Tu Nidito: Ride for a Child, our fundraiser through El Tour de Tucson, is live. We are looking for compassionate riders who want to support grieving families in Southern Arizona. Do you know someone planning on riding the tour? Send them the sign up here! The drawing for Jim Click’s Millions for Tucson Raffle happens in December, so there’s still time to get some tickets for a chance at three great prizes, and we keep 100% of the ticket sales.
With gratitude,

Executive Director

Each spring, Tu Nidito honors mothers in our community who speak to the heart of our mission. These mothers also reflect the beauty and diversity of our Southern Arizona community. Whether it’s overcoming their own obstacles in the face of a serious medical condition or death, or making a difference in the lives of our community’s children, Tu Nidito’s Remarkable Moms are roles models.
Please consider the strong, kind, loving and remarkable moms in your life and nominate them to be recognized and celebrated at Tu Nidito’s Remarkable Celebration, taking place, Saturday, May 9, 2026.

This month, Middles in our bereavement support groups will read Finn’s Feather by Rachel Noble and Zoey Abbott. When Finn finds a feather he believes to be from his special person who has died, a story about resilience and memory unfolds.
After reading, Middles will write a message to their special person on a feather. When they take it home, they can tie the feather to a tree or anywhere they would like to share their message with their special person.
This activity encourages Middles to remember their special person in a positive way and also illustrates to their caregivers how to meet their grieving child where they are in their grief journey.
