It is a new year, and I am eager to share with you all the exciting moments of growth, joy, and rejuvenation happening at Tu Nidito. First, we are proud to announce our Remarkable Moms for 2025! We celebrate Mothers because they are the heart of our community. Over the past 23 years, we have celebrated 121 women who represent the wide diversity of Southern Arizona and come from all walks of life. Each honoree speaks to our mission to create a compassionate community of acceptance and understanding for those grieving a death or serious medical condition. These women are mentors, advocates and role models.
Our 2025 Remarkable Moms are: Candace Geary – mother of two and co-chair of the
University of Arizona’s Parent and Family Board; Rhonda Leinberger – mother of two,
former Tu Nidito client and Senior Marketing Strategist at iHeart Media; Liz Rodriguez
Miller – mother of three, grandmother and retired City of Tucson Deputy City
Manager; Michele Ordonez – mother of five, community advocate and Project
Administrator for McCarthy Building Companies; and Michelle Ruiz mother of two
and Chief Executive Officer of TMCOne.
We will honor these outstanding beacons of our community at our Remarkable Celebration on Saturday May 10, 2025 at the Hilton El Conquistador Tucson. Stay tuned for more about our Remarkable Moms leading up to the event.

WHO WE SUPPORTED IN 2024!
|

|
2024 was an astounding year for us as our programs continue to grow across the board. We supported 357 families in their grief journey including 503 children, 384 adults, and 40 young adults. Through our partnership with Metro Goodwill, we supported 62 opportunity youth along their grief journeys. Additionally 833 adults benefited from our Grief Education program. Our Grief Intervention program touched the lives of 149 children and 18 adults who experienced a traumatic death in their community.
All of this could not be accomplished without our dedicated volunteers, who we are tremendously thankful to, and, of course, to YOU! Every cent donated, every second spent with a grieving child or family—every bit of it matters. The continued growth of our programs illustrates the vast need in Southern Arizona, and with your support, we look forward to supporting even more grieving children, families, and caregivers in 2025. Because of YOU, No Child Grieves Alone.

Soon, we will have a brand new website with an enhanced interface, better user experience, and a fresh coat of paint to better reflect our services.
In anticipation of this website, we are excited to unveil our new logo along with an updated tagline: “Your Place for Grief Support.” In the feedback we receive from the families we serve, a vast majority note that Tu Nidito gives them community, connections, and helps them express themselves with healthy coping strategies. They learn these skills all while experiencing that at Tu Nidito none of of us are alone. “Your Place for Grief Support” demonstrates that Tu Nidito is for all of us, and here, nobody is alone in their grief.

This month during group night, we will help parents and caretakers understand the role of social media in theirs and their child’s grief. We will also provide resources directly to our Teens who may want to express their grief and find community online. While social media can be a powerful tool of self expression, we want to empower our families with knowledge so they can do so safely. Teens will reflect on the apps and websites they use to navigate their grief and discuss how using these different media made them feel. They’ll illustrate these apps on a cut-out phone and can also make up their own apps to help them navigate their grief.

2024 TAX CREDIT: THERE’S STILL TIME!

Donations made through April 15, 2025 can be claimed on your 2024 taxes for the Arizona State Tax Credit. Single, married couples filing separately, or head of household taxpayers can claim up to $470, and married couples filing jointly can claim up to $938. Our QCO Code is 20617.
