I feel a sense of urgency at Tu Nidito as we approach the December holidays. Everyday, our team answers the calls of those grieving - we listen, hear, and acknowledge our grieving children and families as they navigate their personal grief journey. Yet, the holidays seem to create a profound desire to find more ways to help our children during this time which would normally be one of joy and celebration.
I feel this urgency from my amazing team. They want to do everything possible to help find joy for the children and families, we serve. I hear them brainstorming ideas: could we do a gift drive, can we find family experiences to help brighten the season, where can we find a holiday meal, perhaps a gas card for travel. Their enthusiasm is a spark for everyone in the community who joins with us to provide a touch of holiday warmth for grieving children.
You too can help! Our holiday gift wish list is posted on Amazon. I found joy in shopping for our kids. Teens are often forgotten at this time of year so please think of them as you look through our selections. It is easy to give and have your gift sent directly to Tu Nidito. Our Gift Shop will be open from December 5th through the 18th. For many Tu Nidito families this might be the only gifts they can afford for their children or are too burdened to shop for themselves.
Dig deeper into this newsletter and read the tips on talking about grief during the holidays. You probably know someone who is grieving. I want to stress how important it is to honor their grief, don’t try to fix it, just listen. Listening is a great gift.
I also want to remind you that Tu Nidito is a Qualified Charitable Organization (QCO 20617) giving you the ability to donate $400 for an individual or $800 for a couple and receive a dollar for dollar tax credit from the state of Arizona.
Together, during this season of giving and gratitude, we can lift up those who are grieving a serious medical condition or death.
With warm regards,
Liz
