It is the holiday season - a beautiful time of the year for most of us. Although for many of our Tu Nidito children, teens, young adults and caregivers, this can be a season of sadness grieving a death or a serious medical condition. Memories of past holidays can bring joy or sadness. During December our Group Coordinators and volunteers focus on this range of emotions supporting our clients as they navigate their feelings… the highs and the lows.
We are grateful to our friends from Ritz Carlton Residence Community and Mildred and Dildred’s for providing us with gifts for all of our children and teens. Because of these generous donations, caregivers are invited to pick a gift from our “Toy Shop” for each of their children. We are also grateful for our partners at Simply Bits who provided gift cards for our Pathways and CPC families to Prep & Pastry or Bear Canyon Pizza. These families are coping with a serious medical condition and will welcome a delicious meal.
I am in awe of our donors at this time of year. You have answered our call for support with such grace and generosity, making our work with those grieving possible. Every donation makes a difference. I was especially moved by one donor who purchased Jim Click raffle tickets, sharing that he had been a Tu Nidito kid with cancer 20 years ago and cherishes the support he received. He was thrilled to give back!
Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude to our beloved Serena who will be launching from the Nest this month. Serena your compassion, empathy and tireless support of Tu Nidito clients over the past six years is so appreciated. You have help so many navigate their grief journeys making a difference in their lives and providing them with a safe space to connect and grow through their grief.
As we end 2023 and look forward to the New Year, we welcome Lizeth Robles to our team. Lizeth will work with our bereavement programs supporting those grieving the death of a special person. She brings with her a wealth of experience and a true heart for our mission.
Our wonderful Board of Directors have given our team a winter respite, Tu Nidito will close on December 22 at 4pm and reopen on January 2, 2024. I hope each and everyone finds comfort, hope and support this holiday season.
Wishing you and yours Happy Holidays,
